SADDENED by  the thought of kids so hungry they must dig through garbage every day in order to find food?

 

SURPRISED to know these same children are not finding enough food in the trash that so they have to go out and beg in the streets instead of going to school?

 

SHOCKED to find out that the prisons are full of these same children that are now teenagers forced to steal just to survive and have no hope of ever getting a job because they have never had an education?

 

SICKENED by the fact that most of these children will never break the cycle of poverty, will die physically in this condition or at best, bring more children like this into the world?

 

IF THEY CAN’T EVEN FIND FOOD, WHAT DO YOU THINK THEIR CHANCES ARE OF FINDING CHRIST WITH NO ONE THERE TO BRING THEM HOPE?

 

Our answer……..

 

 

HOPE FOR KIDS!!!!!

 

Hope For Kids is the ministry designed to specifically address these needs in Romania. 

 

Here is how we do it:

 

¨      We meet with the school directors in the schools where these children are supposed to be attending.

¨      We make arrangement in which we can come into the schools daily and bring sandwiches to the kids for lunch.

¨      We also are opening up church feeding centers for the same purpose.

 

Here has been the result:

 

¨      More than once, we have seen school attendance double!

¨      Kids that were on the streets begging and starving are coming to school to get lunch.

¨      Since they are in school, they are not stealing and they are getting an education.

¨      The kids are seeing their first chance to break the cycle of poverty and crime they were born into.

¨      AND MOST IMPORTANTLY,  we are having opportunities to teach Bible lessons and share Christ with children that we could never reach any other way.  WE HAVE EARNED THE RIGHT TO BE HEARD and the result is souls are being saved!!!

In addition to the lunches, the ministry also helps with other physical needs of the children.  Two examples of this are the Christmas Coats and Winter Boots projects.  This part of Romania is on the same latitude as our Northern border with Canada.  In addition, these towns are at the base of the Romanian Alps and are at a relatively high location.  For these reasons, it is a cold climate with winters running 20 below zero.  The same children that have to beg for food have never seen a new pair of boots or winter coats.  This leads to sickness and death.  Food, clothing, and shelter are basic needs of all people.  Although the Hope For Kids ministry is directed primarily to providing food and education, each year we are also able to raise funds for boots and coats.  (And now they can keep and wear them, instead of selling them for food!)  If you believe you would like to be a part of this ministry, you can click on the link above on "Becoming a Part".  Below are two links with pictures.
